High Performance Networking

Stimulating the developments in the area of the most recent and future network technologies is one of the main focuses of the High Performance Networking (HPN) department. HPN participates in many research and development projects as a professional and reliable partner.

The HPN department is specialized in the design and maintenance of high performance networks. The department has very extensive experience in Wide Area Networks (WAN) and the technologies used in WANs, such as TCP/IP, several routing protocols, DWDM, switching and redundancy issues.

SURFnet, the national network for the academic and research world in the Netherlands, has arisen in the 1980's. Since the inception of this network, HPN has been responsible for the technical maintenance and the operations of this high-bandwidth network.

The HPN department has extensive experience in broadband networks and uses top-of-the-line infrastructures, consisting of state-of-the-art technology and equipment of the world’s best-known suppliers.
