Successful Mini-symposium: "Networked Visualization for e-Science"
On Friday, June 19, 2009 the University of Amsterdam, GridForum Nederland, BiG Grid en SARA organized a Mini-symposium in the Turingzaal (Z011), Science Park 123, 1098 XG Amsterdam.
The program started at 12:30 with a lunch and demonstrations.
Keynote: Thomas DeFanti
The keynote presentation was provided by Prof. Thomas DeFanti of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Prof. DeFanti is renowned for his pioneering activities in the field of computer graphics, visualization and networking; he is also one of the inventors of the CAVE™.
Lecture of Freek Dijkstra
Also SARA's network researcher Freek Dijkstra has given a presentation during the mini-symposium. Since January 1, 2009 Freek is working at SARA's Division High Performance Networking.
On June 18, Freek defended his thesis "Framework for Path Finding in Multi-Layer Transport Networks" at the University of Amsterdam. His presentation at mini-symposium on June 19 had the same title. His supervisor was Prof. Dr. P.M.A. Sloot, co-supervisor Dr. Ir. C.T.A.M de Laat. Prof. DeFanti was member of the promotion committee.
