Open Dag on October 10, 2009
On Saturday, 10 October 2009, from 12:00 to 17:00 hours,
the annual Open Dag was held at Science Park Amsterdam. This event was
part of the national Oktober Kennismaand.
During the Open Dag, the activities at SARA Computing and Networking
Services focussed on supercomputers and network technology.
Visitors could get answers to the following questions:
- What is a supercomputer?
- Where are supercomputers used for?
- How do supercomputers look like?
- What is optical network technology?
SARA staff have given information about supercomputers and guided visitors
to the Dutch national supercomputer Huygens.

The visitors also attended demonstrations on a Tiled Panel Display, a visualization setup which uses advanced network technology.
The duration of the program was 30 minutes.

whom?
The program was for adults and children from 10 years of age and older,
and was organized in small groups (max. 10 people).
