BiG Grid

The BiG Grid project enables access to High Performance Computing infrastructure for scientific research in the Netherlands. The goal of BiG Grid is to facilitate scientific research through access to advanced ICT research infrastructures. SARA is actively involved as an operational partner in the BiG Grid project, which was founded by Nikhef and NBIC.

SARA's contribution to BiG Grid

We at SARA contribute our knowledge and expertise to providing solutions for the scientific community. BiG Grid organizes all Support & Development activities in which SARA’s e-Science & Cloud services group play a pivotal role. We provide support and consultancy in a variety of ways. Scientific activities are supported in both short and long term projects or by organizing training sessions. Also, we advise and support individual scientists in their daily work using the BiG Grid infrastructure.

Access to grid infrastructures

Researchers can apply for access to grid infrastructures like compute clusters (computing time), data storage facilities, supported by grid middleware and software. Human support can be applied for as well.
