HPC-Europa

‘Transnational access’ research visits

HPC-Europa is an EC-funded program which allows scientists to carry out short ‘transnational access’ research visits to collaborate with a research department working in a similar field. Closing dates are held every three months, and the HPC-Europa program continues until December 2012.

200 research groups

Visitors work closely with a ‘host’ research group working in a similar field of research. Over 200 research groups in seven countries are currently associated with the program as ‘host’ research groups. SARA is one of the seven contributing centers, and offers the national supercomputer Huygens to applicants of the program. Applicants can be working in any discipline, and require the use of High Performance Computing facilities.

Who can apply?

The program is open to researchers of all levels, from postgraduate students to the most senior professors. Following EC guidelines, applications are particularly encouraged from the new EU member countries and those who do not have access to similar computing facilities at their home institute. Visits can last between 3 weeks and 3 months. HPC-Europa pays travel and living costs and provides accommodation.
